What is Kaal Chakra OR Time Zone ?

This cosmos is governed by one invisible force which is although not known to us but we all accept its existence. We can see, the living and non-livings beings/structures are directed and functions since ages such as Sunrise, the season comes and exist in its specific time zone such winters, summer and rainfall, this all acts of nature show there should be some unknown powers or superficial powers which is controlling the whole universe and its activity.

This existence and changes of activity comes under the preview of time zone which is known to Sanatanis Hindus as Kaal or Kaal Chakra ( काल या  काल चक्र ).

In amazing Shrimad Bhagwat Gita, Lord Shri Krishna itself says:

I am the mighty time, the source of destruction that comes forth to annihilate the worlds.Even without your participation, the warriors arrayed in the opposing army shall cease to exist.

Shrimad Bhagvat Gita

This verse explains us as Why time is the most important force in the world. It is not affected by the sentiment. It cannot be influenced by the mortals and it will come irrespective of our own actions.

Further Lord Krishna also explained about time zone in his Gita in Chapter 10 – 30th Sloka.

प्रह्लादश्चास्मि दैत्यानां कालः कलयतामहम्।

मृगाणां च मृगेन्द्रोऽहं वैनतेयश्च पक्षिणाम्।।

I am Prahlad amongst the demons; amongst all that controls I am time. Know me to be the lion amongst animals, and Garud amongst the birds.

Shimad Bhagwat Gita

Here.Shri Krishna does says about his Poorna Swaroopa as time but he mentioned that He is time among subduers. This itself show, time is equal to almighty itself,or other way round, we can says Lord Krishna itself manifest himself in form of Time ( KAAL ).

How is the time zone determined?

It is stated in the texts that this Kaal also works and makes Sun and other planets under its preview and structure hence all the planets and its surrounding stars and asteroids have to flow in a magnetic field which when complete one complete round of SUN we consider it as One Year.

Year zone or time zone is known as Bha-Chakra (भ – चक्र)  in Muhurat Shastra and Astrology.

What is the time zone of Ancient India?

In Structural science of Astrology and Almanac and Bh-Chakra, भ – चक्र – one year is divided into 12 months (12 Masa), further get divided into 1 month into 30 days, further, these 30 days get divided into 2 Paksha (Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha) which is known as Dark Moon and Full moon or Bright days and dark night in the Hindu Shastra.

One day is divided into 60 Ghadi (६० घड़ी ), further one ghadi is equal to 60 pal (1 घड़ी  = ६० पल), 1 pal is equal to 60 vipal (1 पल = ६० विपल), 1 Vipal is equal to 60 Prati-Vipal (1 विपल = ६० साठ प्रतिपल). This way, the Kal Chakra (the minute form of time zone keeps descending from macro to microformat).

Indian Scholars and Occultists have divided the time zone (Kal Chakra) into 5 types viz. Year, Months, days, Lagna and Muhurat (वर्ष, मास, दिन, लग्न और मुहूर्त).

How does Kaal Chakra work?

When these years, months, days get interconnected and sync with each other, they create different results in the cosmos. For e.g, if there is some dosha in Varsh (year), the Masa (month) may nullify, similarly when the Masa (month) is dosh-yukt (meaning negative), and if the days are excellent (balwan – having high vibes/frequency) then the month is said to be good to work for auspicious functions.

Similarly, if you have shubh muhurat – the dosha of varsh ( year ), masa ( months ) and din ( days ) do not exist nor make any difference to people and situations.

Therefore, it is necessary to always look upon the Panchang to know about the best Muhurat (time zone) for completing any types of work/activities to achieve the desired results.
